5. Physico-mathematical description of the flower morphology

we proposed a second-order differential equation for the growth and form of plants based on the pressure field at the organic and tissue level with consideration to the role of mechanical forces playing in the biological pattern formation. The flower morphology is considered as the spontaneous symmetry breaking of a circular growing boundary where the net force exerts. Such a boundary expansion model well present the feature of a plant growing process in which the meristem behaves as a growing boundary. The iso-density contour or the iso-pressure contour given by the solutions can well describe the flower morphology.
